Fine Art for Us and a Straitjacket for the Girl

We don't have any pictures, but Andrew and I had a great time in San Francisco on Saturday.  We dropped Leah off at the Sandland's and went on our merry way.  Our merry way was going to Golden Gate Park and patronizing the de Young Museum, which had a special exibit of impressionist art from the Musee d'Orsay in Paris.  We were really excited when we heard about it, because the Musee d'Orsay was our biggest regret from our trip to Paris last May; we tried to go, but it was closed.  I love that every time I go to an art museum, I find something new that I had never noticed before.  The exhibit was so crowded, but that's completely understandable considering how awesome it was.  Afterward, we wandered around the museum's regular displays and even went up the observation tower on a whim.  Best whim ever!  You could see everything from up there!  Downtown, all of Golden Gate Park, Golden Gate Bridge, the bay, the ocean, everything...so pretty.

OK...I know you want an update on Leah.  Here it is.  Leah's arm strength is getting much better.  She lifts her shoulders up with her arms when she's on her belly, and stays on her belly for much longer than she used to before starting to cry.

She holds herself up a little while she's sitting, but still needs a little more work.

You know how I was so excited that she rolled over?  Now it's hard to keep her from doing it.  I put her down for a nap on her back, and come back a few minutes later to see that she's fallen asleep on her belly.

She hasn't been sleeping well lately, which really makes me sad and sleep-deprived.  She has a tendency to flail her arms and wake up if you set her down.  Apparently babies have an instinct is to spread their arms if they feels like they're falling.  Leah's blankets aren't cutting it anymore when it comes to keeping her swaddled--she fights out of them in no time.  So, I invested in what Andrew has dubbed a "baby straitjacket":

The more loving term would be "swaddler".  It's helped.

We've also gotten a new stroller.  I'm excited about it, even if Leah isn't.
