On the Move

Leah is on the move these days! I definitely have an early crawler on my hands, and it's driving me a little crazy (but in a good way). I'm excited to see her crawling around because it's fun to see her grow and develop. It only drives me a little crazy when I change a diaper; if I take my hand off her for a second, she rolls over and starts off on her own little adventure. She cries and wiggles when I hold her down. Someday she'll learn that the torture of a diaper change will go by faster if she's cooperative. It's amazing how quickly she went from scooting and turning on her belly to crawling.

Here's a picture of her at 5 1/2 months old. It's the first time she got onto her knees. She kept rocking back and forth, so this is the least blurry picture I have. I was about to put clothes on her, but I guess she just couldn't wait.

Here's a picture of her three days shy of turning 6 months old. Looks comfortable in a crawling position, doesn't she? It's crazy how much she changed in only two weeks. At this point, she only crawled a few steps at a time. Then she would rest on her belly for a minute and start going again.

It's hard for her to stay put for more than a minute, especially sitting. She's physically capable;  she's just an eager little thing that decides that she wants to play with something that is just out of her reach.

Soon after she started crawling she finally got her first tooth! And the second tooth poked through a few days after the first.  Andrew managed to get a good picture of her teeth. Usually - if the camera's in her face - she doesn't smile; she's too interested in looking at such an interesting contraption. So consider yourself lucky to get this smiley picture.

Check out her tongue trick. I've seen her flip her tongue upside down too. She did not inherit this talent from me.

And last but not least, here are a few pictures of her standing. On Monday, she pulled herself to standing all by herself in her crib! Just crawling won't satisfy this girl; she wants to walk. Sometimes she crawls on her feet instead of her knees. My theory is that she's trying to stand when she does that.
