Two Schools of Photography
Karen and I are both fairly good at saving money, but we feel that it is important to spend it occasionally, too. For example, we are glad that we took the chance to travel to Europe before Leah came around—the trip was fun, and we will always remember it when we think of our first few years together. Another good use of funds was our choice to get a high-quality camera. Karen and I both enjoy taking photos, and they help us to capture memories with each other and to chronicle Leah's development.
Although we have both had great results, our styles of photography are very different. I like to control the manual settings on the camera to get a particular result, while Karen prefers to get the best possible results from the automatic mode. We have occasionally been frustrated with each other because we each prefer our own style, but it's hard to show that one is better than the other. In the end, we have each produced a roughly equal number of pictures that both of us love.
Over the last few weeks, Leah has been busy improving her crawling and standing skills, so we have a bunch of fun new pictures. Last Saturday, we went to the park. The slide was boring, so we decided to crawl on the grass and eat leaves.
On Monday, she brought herself to standing all by herself for the first time. Since then, she has been standing whenever and wherever possible.
After pulling herself to standing against her mom's leg, Leah posed for the following photo. She seems to think that she can get anything she wants with a cute smile. Where did she get that idea?
As an "energetic" baby, Leah doesn't always carefully consider the alternatives available to her. For example, if you put a toy on the opposite side of a chair, I would probably choose to go around the chair. Leah, however, prefers the more direct route through the chair.
