Leah's Quotes, Part 1

We've been collecting little quotes and stories. Since they're easy to forget, we've been incrementally adding them to this post for a few months. The earliest ones are several months old now. Anyway, it's fun to watch the process of language development.

Andrew: Leah, say, "I love you, Mom."
Leah: Mom, I like cake.

Talking about her visit to the swimming pool:
Andrew: Leah, was there lots of water, or a little bit of water?
Leah: Enough water.
Several months later, she still uses the word "enough" to mean "a lot," as in: "How much ice cream do you want?" "Enough ice cream!"

Andrew: Say, "Thank you, Mom."
Leah: Welcome, Mom.

The grocery store is the "apple store."

Leah was trying to climb onto the bed to play at an inconvenient time.
Andrew: Leah, nobody on the bed.
Leah: Yes-body on the bed.

Looking through the new peep hole in our basement apartment:
Andrew: Leah, do you see a door?
Leah (with a little bit of a sad tone): No. I don't see Dora.

We had friends over when it was Leah's bedtime. She was distressed that they were still in our living room and very adamant that they needed to leave before she went to bed.
Leah: Go away. Okay? Back soon!

Andrew: Maybe we could go for I-C-E-C-R-E-A-M later.
Leah: Ice cream!!
(She's onto us! On the bright side, she's showing promise at the tender age of 2 1/2.)

Leah was sick. She had thrown up three times and had a fever (several days later, we learned it was roseola). Andrew was helping her read her Dora book.
Andrew: "Will you help me smile into the crystal? Uno, dos, tres! SMILE!"
Leah (with a sad face): First feel better. Then smile.

One page of Leah's Dr. Seuss alphabet book has a picture of a lollipop. She saw it and told Andrew, "I want a lollipop stick, please." Andrew pretended to take the lollipop from the page and hand it to Leah. With a frustrated scowl, she then pretended to grab the lollipop and throw it angrily on the floor.
