Christmas - Missouri

We flew to Kansas City to visit Brian (Karen's brother), Amy, Katherine, and Rachel. It had been about three years since we had seen them. They had never met Leah. Our flight there was terrible: three hours sitting on the runway, missing our connecting flight, and then waiting 5 hours to fly standby (nerve racking!) for the next flight out (which was also delayed). Luckily, we got on that flight and didn't have to wait another two hours for the following flight. A lot of flights were delayed or canceled because of a storm, so I'm sure there were people who had it worse than we did. Thankfully, the return trip was uneventful.

One day, we went to a cute restaurant that delivered the food to our table via a model train that carries a tray.

The Hallmark company, which owns Crayola, is headquartered in Kansas City. We went to the Crayola store, the Hallmark Museum, and Kaleidoscope, which is an art activity exhibit for children. Tables were equipped with crayons, markers, paper, shaped cardboard, and other art materials (including "surplus and recycled materials from Hallmark manufacturing"). One room was lit by black lights and had melted neon-colored crayon wax with paintbrushes. I think the adults were as entertained as Leah.

And we stopped at a small park by the Missouri River.
