January
It's been a really cold year. In the nine and a half years I've lived in Utah, this is the first time I've ever seen "freezing rain." Basically, it was freezing cold for a few days, and then rain clouds moved in that were warmer than it was on the ground. The rain freezes where it lands. Everything was covered in a thin layer of ice. Needless to say, there were a lot of car accidents on the roads, and youtube videos of people falling. It was accompanied by a terrible inversion.
Somebody posted a video demonstrating how slippery it was at BYU: Utah Winter Freezing Rain.
To stick to the "winter" theme, we also spent some time at the Springville Museum of Art. It's a fun place to visit from time to time. These pictures show the huge icicles that accumulated on the building.
And here are a few random pictures from this month. It's not the best picture, but notice the length of Leah's hair before her haircut:
And after:
And here's a picture of Leah. I forget what we did this day, but I must have worn this little girl out. She fell asleep like this while we watched TV. An hour before her regular bedtime. I love her music player pressed to her ear.
