Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
I realize that I haven't posted anything from the move. I'm very behind blogging. So get ready for a lot all at once.
Moving is hectic. But I managed to take a few pictures while we were in the packing-up phase in late November.
Our travel plans were insane. Most of our gear went into storage cubes, and we fit what we could in the car. Then we headed out.
We didn't quite make it to Denver after the first day of driving, as we had planned. The roads were really icy, and we went a lot slower than we originally planned. It was really dark and driving felt dangerous, so we ended up getting a hotel in Glenwood Springs. I'm really glad we stopped. It made the next day of driving longer, but it was worth it. Thanks to Andrew for doing most of the mountain pass driving!
The next day was just long and boring. But we made it to Kansas City. It was nice to break up the trip a little bit. I think I stayed with Brian and Amy for two nights. It's nice to break up a move by visiting family. I failed in the taking pictures department though.
From Kansas City, Andrew flew to CA to do orientation at corporate headquarters. And I drove to Champaign, IL with Leah. I left Leah with Paul and Nancy so that I could have two days with a realtor without having a child in tow. In Ohio, I got a flat tire. Two hours or so later, I was back on the road. Could have been worse. I made it to Pittsburgh later than planned, but in one piece.
Andrew flew into Champaign to pick up Leah. Then took a bus to Chicago with Leah, and then a train on to Pittsburgh. Leah was so excited to take a bus and a train. It was a night train, so after the excitement of eating dinner in a train car, Leah and Andrew headed back to their room and slept.
